* James Brotherhood and Associates commenced in private practice in 1976. Being aware of the necessity to look to the future in an expanding industry, the practice was formed into a limited company in 1984.Today, James Brotherhood &am; Associates Limited has a traditional company structure, with James Brotherhood as its managing director, supported by members of the team.

* The company has developed a good working relationship with English Heritage, The Department of the Environment, CADW and Local Authorities. Members of the team have an excellent working relationship with Town Planners, Conservation Officers, Highways Officers, Building Control Officers and members of the Fire Brigade and other statutory bodies, to achieve clients' requirements.

* A part of the specialist works undertaken by the Company is the reassessment of property which has been bought as an investment by clients, so that the investment value is increased by carefully introducing economic benefits into the premises to enhance value. The company is pleased to undertake design consultation work including site and building survey feasibility studies, development proposals including the changing of land and building values, advise on planning and all Construction Design Management Act aspects and advise on procurement and the building contract.

The development proposals have been the subject of a Public Inquiry which was called in by the Secretary of State for Wales. Ian Roberts, Director of Development and Planning for Brecon Beacons' National Park, stated "I am delighted that the Secretary of State has now approved the development. This vindicates the positive and sympathetic design approach which the applicant's architect, James Brotherhood & Associates, and ourselves sought to achieve which now enables the regeneration of this derelict and redundant area to commence".

* The commitment to quality of design and the built environment by James Brotherhood and Associates has been recognised by their work being included the Secretary of State’s document "Quality in Town and Countryside" and in the Planning Policy for Wales Technical Advice Note, 12: Design, where their work demonstrates, in connection with Listed Buildings "it may be more appropriate to abandon conventional design solutions in favour of a more imaginative and contemporary approach."

* At Trinity Manor, Jersey, restoration and new building works were undertaken and the Manor House and Estate buildings have been sensitively upgraded with new build elements, to enable it to rightfully regain its position as being one of the six main houses of Jersey where HRH The Queen can stay as of right when visiting Jersey.
